Halloween Fun

Halloween may be chock full of ghosts and goblins, but it is also lots of fun. Choosing a costume and decorating the house aren't the only ways to get into the Halloween mood. Curling up with a good book and a mug of hot apple cider is a great way to stir up the excitement for the Halloween.

 

HAPPY HALLOWEEN BISCUIT!

Who can resist the adorable puppy, Biscuit? He is one of the most popular characters in children's books. Young children will relish this sweet story of Biscuit's first Halloween. The pull-the-flap illustrations help make the fun interactive, as Biscuit's experiences the excitement of trick-or-treating. All of the Biscuit books are charming in their simplicity, and this one is no exception.

FIVE LITTLE PUMPKINS
by Iris Van Rynbach.

This book is based on the classic pre-school song that is usually sung with hand movements. The spooky illustrations are full of classic Halloween characters that help bring the song to life. Even the youngest kids can be encouraged to sing along with the reader. For pre-readers who know the song, this can be a great book for learning to read along.

BIG PUMPKIN
by Erica Silverman, illustrated by S.D. Schindler

This colorful Halloween picture book is a wonderful story of friendship and teamwork. When the Halloween witch can't move her big pumpkin, she must rely on the help of others. It takes the help of everyone, including the vampire, the ghost, and even little bat. The story is based on a classic folktale.

IT'S PUMPKIN TIME!

This book gives young readers an insight into the lifecycle of pumpkins. Through bright and colorful collages, children learn about spring planting, seed, vines, and the final product - the pumpkin. Through the eyes of children and their adorable dog, the life of pumpkins is presented in a comprehensive, yet charmingly simplistic way.
