 Butterfly Handprint and Poem

You will need:

3 colors of paint and black.

White construction paper

brushes

Have the child open his hand and spread his fingers, palm facing up.

The body of the butterfly is painted in black. Start with the tip of the child's middle finger and paint all the way to the bottom of the palm.

Next color the palm on both sides of the black line with the first color.

Then paint the thumb and pinky finger with the second color.

Lastly paint the last two remaining fingers with the third color.

Next press the hand onto a piece of white construction paper. Make sure to keep the middle finger still and move the other fingers to expand the "wings" of the butterfly.

When the paint dries you can add antennae with a marker.

Cut out butterfly and mount on a contrasting piece of construction paper with the following poem:

This isn't just a Butterfly

As you can plainly see.

I made it with my hand

Which is a part of me.

Art Work Holder

You will need:

Paint Stir Stick

3 Clothespins (with a spring)

Glue

Magnet Strip

Paint the paint stir stick whatever color you want.

Paint the 3 clothespins a matching color if you like.

Once the paint is dry, glue the 3 clothespins onto the stir stick. Make sure they are evenly spaced across the width of the stick.

With a paint or permanent marker personalize your project. "Look what (child's name) made!" - evenly spaced across the stick.

Attach the magnet strip to the back of the paint stir stick. Now you can display art work or school papers on the fridge.

Handprint Wall Hanging

You will need:

Paper Plate

Paint



Glue

Paint one palm the desired color and press it onto the paper plate.

Once the paint dries, glue the lace around the edge of the plate and then add the ribbon for hanging.

Write the child's name, age, and date on the plate!

For a little variety, use colored paper plates.

Handprint Poem Gift

You will need:

Construction Paper

Crayons, paint or felts

Make a home-made card or a wall hanging with your handprint on it, and print this poem!

My Handprint

Sometimes you get discouraged

Because I am so small

And always leave my fingerprints

On furniture and walls

But everyday I'm growing big

And soon I'll be very tall

Then all my little handprints

Will be hard to recall

So here's a special handprint

Tissue Paper Flowers Craft

Tissue paper

Green pipe cleaners (or twist ties)

Cut a few pieces (about 4-6) of tissue paper about 8 x 10 inches (the exact size doesn't matter). Put the paper in a pile and fold it like an accordion.

Tie the center of the folded paper with a green pipe cleaner (or twist tie).

Gently pull each piece of paper towards the top center of the flower, separating each sheet of paper from the others (forming the petals of the flower).
