Summer Fashions 2006
by Jillian Bietz

This summer it is all about old favorites- from plastic hair accessories to sophisticated waist cinching belts, almost anything stashed in the back of your storage closet can be adapted into a wearable trend perfect for the season. Whether it's your mom's vintage sandals or your brother's worn t-shirts, these comfy and timeless pieces will keep you looking stylish for the summer! Here are a few suggestions to keep you looking great!

Eyelet and Lace: Dainty and light fabrics are great summer staples which will definitely keep you cool during the sunny months. Whether you're sporting an eyelet top or have a little lace trim decorating the hem of your favorite sundress, flirty fabrics such as these are great for no fuss looks.

Headbands: A long-standing and popular look, headbands can look just as elegant as they do sporty and can be a great accessory to compliment any outfit. Whether you wear yours thick or thin, headbands come in a variety of popular materials such as plastic and fabric. Easy to find in an assortment of colors, these bands will keep your hair in check!

Skinny jeans: A blast from the past, this up-to-the-minute look can be seen on everyone, from high school students to fashionable celebrities! For this denim look, presentation is key! Dress the look down with classic ballet flats, a tank, and layered necklaces, or glam it up with high-heeled espadrilles, oversized sunglasses and a high-waisted belt. Be creative! These staple pants go with most anything!

Nautical: Not only for those out in the sea, stripes and anchors are back in a big way! Whether worn in the form of silver earrings or a striped tunic, this style will keep you looking chic all summer long! Look for the authentic navy colors of blue, red and white!

Printed T-Shirts: Solid T's are so last year! Everything from fruit to polka dots to wild flowers will keep you looking casually cool. Soft vintage tees are also a big hit. Have fun finding your perfect print!

Jelly Shoes: I know what your thinking! The plastic, neon sandals everyone wore in elementary school? Well this style is back again! Spotted in woven flats, flip-flops and more, these plastic shoes will keep your feet light and airy in the hot weather.

While wearing many trendy looks is fun, wearing something you feel comfortable in is the most important thing. Try one or two of these pieces at a time and you'll be styling in no time!

Have a happy, healthy and safe summer filled with sunny memories!
