Many families are taking "staycations" this year - opting to seek out at-home activities or home and explore local attractions or events within driving distance. While movies are the usual fare, they do limit family interaction and keep you all glued to the TV. How about some fun CD choices for family listening pleasure? Here are a few of my favorite picks for this year:

Tell Me A Story 3: Women of Wonder
A series of folktales from around the world are beautifully performed by told by professional actors. In our fast paced world of computers and interactive video games, TELL ME A STORY introduces children to the art of traditional story telling. The accompanying music is lovely. As a bonus for parents and teaches, the web site features a broad range of resource materials. Perfect for quiet time or car trips.

MUSIC BOX by Mary Kaye
Mary Kaye is back with a collection of appealing tunes for the young set. From Under the Moon with kooky animal sounds, to the sweetly delicious Hot Chocolate Fairy, Mary Kaye's folksy voice has warm overtones. She seems to sing directly to children who will be charmed by the clear and clever lyrics. A perfect choice for a long car ride or as joyful background in a pre-school setting.

FAMILY TIME WITH ZIGGY MARLEY is a fun, funky celebration of music and family life Jamaican style! Terrific songs like Family Time, and I Love You Too will have the whole family rockin' out! Guest performers like Jack Johnson and Paul Simon add depth and heart to this musical selection. A great choice for families with younger and older kids.
