She creates a fanciful image in her mind and is sorely disappointed when reality is far different. Allie becomes friends with the girls in her neighborhood and at school, but struggles with the notion of what it means to be a "best friend. Even against the backdrop of a different era, Allie's struggles relatable and readers will wish they had a friend like Allie. Strawberry Hill has the tone and simple charm of a classic children's book. A terrific holiday gift for a young girl who enjoys historical fiction.
