Like A Maccabee - This middle-grade chapter book tells the story of Ben, a 10-year-old boy who is gearing up for a championship soccer game while adjusting to the changes in his family that have occurred since his grandfather moved in. Ben faces challenges at school, including the bully from the opposing soccer team, and frustrations at home.

365 TV Free Activities You Can Do with Your Child by Steve Bennett and Ruth Bennett

This small book packs a big punch with great ideas and detailed descriptions for all activities. Many of the suggestions are easily adaptable to small groups, such as creating a Kid's Circus. A detailed index divides activities by category, making this a very user-friendly resource. Not only will these activities get kids away from the television - it will keep them away!

Family Fun Night by Cynthia L. Copeland

The wide array of activities in this selection can be used for family time or with groups of kids. Family fun can include games, educational activities, sports, and more. With over 300 ideas, there is sure to be some appealing options for your group. There are even suggestions for meals and snacks that correspond the activities.

Amazing Things To Do Together (The Family Book)

If you prefer a wacky take on fun activities, this book is the perfect choice. Silly activities such as "Short Sheet the Bed" and "Convince Your Neighbors You Won The Lottery," are balanced with some really terrific ideas including "Making a photographic Family Tree." A little less traditional than other activity books, but perfect to bring out the quirkiness in your kids.

Whether you are looking for ways to keep your kids from slipping into boredom, or you are organizing a formal group, the right resources will keep everyone having fun in the sun!
