Safe Fun in the Summer Sun!
It's finally summer, the time of the year that many outdoor-loving families look forward to more than any other.

Hiking, biking, swimming, kayaking, and all of the other great outdoor adventures that are available seem to be even more special in the bright summer sun. But before you head outdoors to enjoy those sun-filled days, take a few minutes to make sure your family has a safe summer experience!
First, remember that summer heat can make your body lose moisture quickly during exercise, even when it does not seem to be that warm outside. Drink plenty of fluids such as water to make sure that you don't become dehydrated. Especially keep a watch on children outside, as their smaller bodies can dehydrate more quickly in the summer heat. Before heading out for any outdoor activity, make sure everyone has a water bottle to bring along for the adventure. Know the signs of overheating and take frequent breaks when the weather is warm to prevent heatstroke, too.
Summer is certainly one of the best times of the year for families to get outside and enjoy the beauty of the natural world. With a little preparation and some check-ins throughout the day, your entire family can have a great outdoor experience in the summer sun. Plan ahead, stay safe, and enjoy the world while it's Positively Green!
Here's another hint: Kids heading off to summer camp? Apply sunscreen and bug spray as part of your morning routine before they head out for the day. Kids are usually having so much fun at camp they forget to apply them when they are there. And don't forget the water bottle!
