Letters to Ethan: A Grandfather’s Legacy of Life and Love

Letters to Ethan” makes you wish you had a grandpa like Tom McQueen. Superbly in tune with the human condition and able to eloquently discuss it in conversational English, McQueen tackles issues of forgiveness and a firm belief in miracles that goes beyond Sunday school lessons. At the same time, he includes a simple life lesson in each chapter that will serve Ethan – and other readers – who choose to learn from what they read.

It is interesting to note that the author does not shy away from the tough topics and the sad stories. Instead, he finds teaching opportunities in tragedy and God’s hand even in a prayer that remains unanswered. This type of simple faith is missing in many of today’s churches where eloquent explanations have rationalized away that God sometimes also says “no.”

Letters to Ethan” excels at capturing the essence of childlike innocence, helping it to mature while nevertheless keeping it intact. These life lessons are perfect for moms or dads sharing them with their kids, for grandparents to share with their grandchildren and for adults without children to take them to heart and develop that childlike demeanor that Christ expects from His disciples.
