Author Mark Stevens is a bit of an oddity in the business. Sure, there are plenty of motivational speakers who have a blunt edge to their deliveries, but how many of them can claim kinship with God? Read through Stevens” blog and it becomes clear that this author is someone who draws lines, takes no prisoners and has but one fear: To gradually slip into mediocrity.

God is a Salesman therefore represents Stevens” customary demand for personal excellence, even as he takes a more spiritual tack. Do not be tempted into cheapening the book as a mere treatise on snake-oil salesmanship with a divine spin. When I say God is a salesman, I mean an influencer, an educator, and a force that enables us to bridge the gap between what we see and what may well be the greater truth, the author writes. Then it gets interesting.

Throughout the book, Stevens teaches about gaining perspective, finding and maintaining a passion, and then also capitalizing on this passion in business. Time and again, the author proves that mediocrity and excuses are the enemies of success. Looking at God’s ability to turn a ragtag band of followers into one of the world’s major religious faiths is the springboard for this experience.

Read God is a Salesman for business success, personal growth, and for a successful conviction that mediocrity is just plain wrong — and unnecessary.
