As a craftsperson, you’re probably always on the lookout for interesting new ideas to help you celebrate the holidays in style. Whether you want to add new merchandise items to your craft product line or just make a few interesting items for your own use, St. Patrick’s Day is a great time to dabble in green crafts. Since many people would never dream of not wearing something green for this Irish holiday, St. Patrick’s Day crafts can be a lot of fun to make, wear and sell.

St. Patrick’s Day Jewelry

Jewelry pieces are always a popular wardrobe accessory for St. Patrick’s Day. Even those who don’t want to wear a totally green outfit will affix a shamrock pin to their sweater or wear a green necklace or earrings. There are almost countless ways to make beautiful green jewelry pieces for St. Patrick’s Day. If you want to focus primarily on the green color instead of the shamrock motif, you can simply use green materials such as beads to make your usual jewelry styles.

However, it can be a lot of fun to make at least a few pieces of shamrock or other St. Patrick’s Day themed jewelry. If you are using beads, try stringing them on wire that can be bent into a shamrock shape. If clay or dough jewelry is more your style, use a small heart-shaped cookie cutter to fashion the shamrock leaves. Then, simply affix three leaves and a stem to a small circle of clay or dough, forming a quick, easy and yet beautiful shamrock shape. Depending on the size, you can use these shamrocks as the basis for a necklace, pin or earrings. You could also use a similar technique to make shamrock buttons, which would add a fun touch to your green holiday outfit. Even small children can have fun making green jewelry for St. Patrick’s Day. Pony beads, clay, foam sheets and other materials can be used by children to create their own jewelry masterpieces.

Green Fashion Accessories

In addition to jewelry items, it can be fun to create other green-colored fashion accessories. Try knitting or crocheting a decorative green scarf to add a festive touch to your wardrobe. Embroider a shamrock on a handkerchief, or knit a fun pair of green holiday socks. Use green and white ribbon or shamrock charms to decorate hair bands and barrettes. These fun little fashion accessories will add a festive touch to your own wardrobe, or give them to friends as little holiday gifts.

St. Patrick’s Day Home Décor

Even if you don’t personally want to wear a green outfit on St. Patrick’s Day, you might enjoy dressing your home up for the holiday. Show your St. Patrick’s Day spirit to the world by hanging a grapevine wreath decorated with painted wooden shamrocks on your front door. A bouquet of green and white flowers arranged in a hand-painted glass vase can be the perfect centerpiece for your dining room table. Or, paint some shamrocks on some green or white candles, using acrylic craft paint. Before painting the candles, wipe the candle surface with rubbing alcohol, so that the paint will have better adhesion.
