Halloween Fright

There's something eerie lurking about.
Does it walk, does it crawl,
Does it slither around?
The wind rustles the leaves, or was something
Behind me? Is it far, is it near, is it
Sneaking up on me?
My heart pounds ever so fast, as fear trickles
Down my spine. The moon casts shadows on the
Corners and trees, could there be something
Hiding? Waiting to jump out at me?
Screeches and howls- giggles and screams.
Almost to the door,
Nothing is what it seems.
I feel a hand on my shoulder
And let out a scream.
I slowly turn just to see,
And in a sigh of relief...
It's only a group of Trick or Treaters!
Seems the trick was on me!!!!

On Halloween Night

Creepies-n-crawlies-n-ghoulies galore
Better peek out that window
Before opening that door.
All shapes and sizes
In large herds they come.
Vampires-n-witches-n-ghosts
BETTER RUN!
They walk the streets
For treats they search
Running from door to door
It's a race to get there first.
Trick or treat, a treat preferred.
Why, who wants a trick? Hey, that's absurd.
Gobs of candy eaten along the way
OH, my tummy-- it's got an ache!
The things to look forward to
On Halloween night.
One things for sure,
It'll be a fright!

Shadows

The haunting shadows of unwanted thoughts
creep from corner to corner,
playing tricks on the unsuspecting eye-
Making you crazy, Is it real? You wonder...
Taunting, haunting shadows prodding
your reality, so close, it's ghostly fingers
early touch your mind...
Large shadows start to tower over you,
making you cower like a frightened child,
then they suddenly disappear.
Was it just your imagination?
Or was it the fear of all unwanted thoughts
shadowing your mind?
