Make an Entrance
by Sonya Weiss

red-door

Watch the red carpet roll out for a Hollywood gala and notice how the stars make an entrance. From head to toe, they're stunning; attired in fashions created by the best designers known to man. Stars realize appearance is everything.

The front door of your house is the red carpet gala event for your home-the first thing your visitors see. Step back and take a good look at it. What's the impression it gives?

You can give your front door appeal and glamour without spending a fortune and you don't have to buy a new one either.

praint front doorNot sure what look you'd like for your door? Check out those paint cards at Lowe's or Home Depot for ideas. Then, choose your paint--don't be afraid to step away from neutral colors.

Remove the door from the hinges in order to apply a smooth coat or two of paint. Once the painting is dry, new hinges and a new door handle gives the appearance of a brand new door without the cost of one.

For the wider doors with the long windows beside them, instead of hanging curtains or blinds when you need privacy, try using a narrow, stand alone shutter instead.

Happy Decorating!

About Sonya Weiss

From the time she was a child, Sonya spun stories to entertain herself and her siblings. Once she graduated high school, she put her writing aside and attended college where she studied Secondary Education, majoring in English. The writing bug never quite left her and once she had children, Sonya would write stories for their enjoyment.

A few years ago, her oldest daughter persuaded her to send a children's short story to an editor and to Sonya's astonishment and delight, the story sold. In April of 2003, she won Harlequin's Writing Round Robin contest. Since then, her work has appeared on various online websites such as http://www.pregnancytoday.com as well as in her local newspaper.

Sonya currently resides in the beautiful state of South Carolina with her husband and four children and works as a freelance writer.
