Fishing Date

A little boy, a little girl
a bucket of worms beside them on the pier.
He baits her hook and casts out her line,
hands her the pole,
"and now to do mine!"
There they sit with their feet in the water
he smiled at her when there was a tug on
the bobber, "Hey look! you got one!"
he said with a grin
"now easy does it, just reel 'er on in"
He helped her with the rod, and unhooked
the fish, she gave him a starry smile and
he thought he'd get a kiss.
He leaned over towards
but fell in the water, she giggled
with laughter.
He looked up and smiled and said
"oh why'd I bother!!"
