Calling all ModeratesWhat a breathe of fresh air that went through the hallowed halls of the U.S. Senate when the moderates finally united. The majority of Americans are not far left or far right; not liberal or conservative. Most are moderates, tolerant of their neighbors differences, working together to build mutually benefiting communities. This has always been America's strength. Unfortunately, moderates have been too quiet. They have been counting on the fact that their numbers were the largest, and therefore their vision for America would prevail. But the current political climate in this nation shows us that numbers are not enough. It is time to speak up loud enough to be heard over the maniac yelling of the far whatever's.Make your voice heard in support of the 14 U.S. Senators who stood up and made sure that the American tradition of majority rule and miniority rights prevailed in the U.S. Senate. Most of us have rarely, if ever, written a letter to our Congressman. We can no longer follow this path. They are listening to the fanaticism of the far whatever's . Congress is on their way to transforming our country into one more acceptable to the far whatever's than to moderates. Just think about the issues dominating the political elections: gay marriage, government control over life and death decisions, evolution versus creation, abstinence and more. Are these the issues you care about most? What is happening to issues about fiscal responsibility, safety in our country, schools and neighborhoods, educational opportunities and health care?Help get this country back on track. Support the moderates. One can only hope that the moderate Democrats and Republicans will continue to team up to help Americans. If the ultra left and ultra right continue donw the current path maybe we will even end up with a new party made up of moderate Democrats and Republicans- certainly this would be more reflective of the real majority of Americans. |
