Rain Gauge Craft from Families OnLine Magazine

Rain Gauge

You will need:

Clear pill bottle OR Jar
Permenant Markers ( different colors) Ruler

Wash and dry the container.

Lay the ruler inside the container. Using the black marker, mark 5mm, 10mm, 15mm etc until you reach the top of your container.

Using another color permenant marker, decorate your rain gauge.

Take your rain gauge outside and place in an open area so that you can get an accurate reading.

After it has rained, put the cap on the container, before lifting it up, so you dont spill any and your can record the exact amount.

An ideal place to put this would be on a picnic table that is not under cover, maybe in the center of your back yard.

It is portable so you can take it on vacation with you and see how much it rains.

Have some fun. Measure the total amount of rain for Summer, Fall, Winter or Spring.
