The 1980's "Brat Pack Must Sees"

Prior to the current crop of teen stars who are at the height of public interest, "The "Brat Pack" was Hollywood Royalty. Consisting of 1980's actors Emilio Estevez, Anthony Michael Hall, Rob Lowe, Andrew McCarthy, Demi Moore, Judd Nelson, Molly Ringwald and Ally Sheedy, "The Brat Pack" kids starred in some of the most popular movies of the twentieth century. Before many of them became award-winning actors as adults, this group of young superstars heralded in an era of pop culture that will forever remain in the time capsule of American cinema. Here are just a few movies that feature these talented actors:

The Breakfast Club

On March 24,1984, five high school students are forced to attend a Saturday detention at their High School starting at 7:45 AM. Although none of these kids have anything in common and their reasons for detention range from ditching school to go shopping to pulling the fire alarm, all of them are itching to get out of school. When they are assigned a 1,000 word essay by their hostile principal, the kids go haywire. Doing anything to distract themselves from their hellish day ahead, the gang starts interacting with one another, and soon start to realize that they have more in common than they previously thought.

Pretty in Pink

Brat Pack Members: Molly Ringwald, Andrew McCarthy.

Andie Walsh is not someone you would call popular. With an unemployed single father, Andie lives a very simple and somewhat difficult life for a typical high school senior. Though fashion savvy when it comes to second hand clothes, Andie is constantly teased by the popular girls. When she falls for a rich jock named Blane, things get even messier. Feeling hopeless that she won't have a date for the prom, Andie is overjoyed when she learns Blane feels the same way as she does. After a few dates, Andie starts to feel the friction between her life and Blane's world. On top of that, Duckie, Andie's best friend who has a secret crush on her, tries to distract Andie from her "yuppie" crush.

Sixteen Candles

Sam Baker, a high school sophomore, is under pressure. Her longtime obsession with a fellow schoolmate named Jake seems to be going nowhere, and her parents won't even acknowledge her imminent sixteenth birthday due to her older sisters impending nuptials. While Sam struggles to appeal to Jake, it seems as if someone else has her in mind. Ted, her geeky friend has made a bet with his friends that he have his way with Sam, although she has no interest in him. To make things even worse, Sam's grandparents take in an odd exchange student who is desperately attached to Sam, much to her chagrin.

The Outsiders

This adaptation of the hit 1960's novel follows the Curtis brothers, Ponyboy, Sodapop and Darry, along with their friends Johnny, Dally, Steve and Keith. This tight knit group of young men is known as The Greasers. Living in 1967 Oklahoma, The Greasers often get into trouble. As they fight with the more upscale kids in their known as The Socs, the boys realize what truly matters in their life.
