Manhattan Magic
by Jillian Bietz

A high schooler living in Manhattan, Rachel Weinstein deals with all the typical teenage tribulations; she has crushes at school, her best friend has just dumped her for the popular girls, and her dad is about to be married to the nastiest woman on the planet. However, when it turns out her hippie mom and little sister Miri are witches, things get complicated. Not only is she peeved at the fact that clueless Miri always seems to get the good things in life, her mom forbids Miri to use her powers because of inevitable consequences. But that doesn't stop Rachel. With a little persuading, Rachel gets her little sibling to use her powers for her benefit. Soon, Miri helps Rachel become the most popular, prettiest and most talented girl at school through spells and potions. Though the plan seemingly starts off smoothly, Rachel soon learns what really matters in life.

Follow Rachel's hilarious adventures in the sequels; Frogs and French Kisses, Spells and Sleeping Bags and most recently, Parties and Potions. By now, Rachel has learned that she's also inherited magical powers and has found the boy of her dreams! But though their mom's become more lenient doesn't mean Rachel and Miri are aces at the craft. In Parties and Potions, the girls begin attending witchcraft classes and meet other teens that possess magical powers. Soon, Rachel and her new friends begin preparing for a debutante-type gala for witches and warlocks to be introduced into witchcraft society. But when Rachel meets Adam, a very cute warlock, she's conflicted. Though she loves her mortal boyfriend, she can't help wonder what things would be like if she had a boyfriend who already knew about and shared her secret.
Watch out Sabrina! There's a new teenage witch in town.
