Get Posed for the Latest Teen Lit! by Jillian Bietz
The Poseur Series by Rachel Maude
Everyone prepares to go back to school a different, better person than when the left for summer vacation. Janie, a timid student who feels like a fish out of water at her posh Hollywood Hills prep school vows to break out her inner fashionista. But easier said than done. Bursting on the scene in an amazing green vintage miniskirt can only help so much, especially when Janie's brother starts dating the nastiest queen bee in school, super rich girl Charlotte, who made her freshman year miserable. Things don't look like they will be getting any better.
Still holding on to her dreams of becoming a fashion plate, Janie reluctantly agrees to team up with Charlotte and three other girls to create a hip clothing line. But Janie, Charlotte, Melissa and Petra couldn't be any different. Except for the fact that they all want to blow their classmates away, nobody agrees on anything. And disaster ensues because each girl has her own individual vision which clashes with the rest- in the same vein as wearing Loubutin heels with torn sweatpants just doesn't work. Nobody wants to design clothing they don't believe in, and their ideas just don't mix- blending is a term only reserved for coffee drinks, after all. Or is it?
Throughout the process, the girls realize that while they may look different on the outside, they all have struggles on the inside and see each other in a whole new light.
The Poseur series is chockfull cattiness, high-status scandals, teenage drama, and of course fashion, all rooted in the complications of friendships; it's a must read for fans of the Gossip Girl and The Clique fans. Poseur proves you don't need to be a fictional character to be you schools best dressed. Throughout the book, the author shows off her fab fashion sketches, and lets you get in the action too; the book includes Do-It-Yourself instructions by NYC fashion label Compai. And just when you think you couldn't get of your favorite poseurs, they return this time with a major Halloween themed project. Everyone knows that if you don't fit in, your out like last seasons it purse. So while The Poseur line may tout their newest it bag, the "Trick-or-Treater," this time, it's a solo affair. Only one girl's design will get eaten up and other three will get left in the bottom of the candy bowl. Much more bitter than sweet. Poseur #2: The Good, The Fab, and the Ugly hits shelves on October 1st.
