A New Holiday Tradition: Thanksgiving in St. Lucia
Thanksgiving is less than a month away and you have major questions about where to spend it.
The in-laws has been a bit of a burden and instead of navigating that troubled environment, you have decided to visit Saint Lucia with your own family for a Thanksgiving that brings all the fun of the holiday without the stress of awkward in-law tension. Just this year, get away and relax with the family. You will not regret it.
Fly to Saint Lucia, and hit the ground with your holiday vacation plans. You will want to have a car hire agency lined up so someone can get you to your family resort without second thought. At the resort the first thing you will do, is smile as you realize that the weather in the Caribbean is ten-times-over more enjoyable than the settling winter from your cold hometown. Snorkeling is pretty big on St. Lucia, and there’s plenty of beaches where it’s safe to teach your kids how to snorkel like a pro, or you could even sign them up for a lesson with tour operators on the island.
You may or may not have decided to line up a traditional holiday feast for you and your family. If you did, you can enjoy the amenities of the resort you chose, for a private meal or a dinner with an ocean view. If you did not arrange a holiday meal, you will have made certain that your resort provided special meals for the occasion. If your kids are fussy eaters, there’s always a good old slice of Americana to be found in the humble burger and french fries at most restaurants.
St. Lucia is a popular tourist environment and they specialize in observing holidays from all around the world. Your hotel resort will have a special feast for the family in a stress-free, you do not have to cook or clean, environment. This year you eat and drink to your heart’s content without going to the work of preparing a meal that will take hours to clean.
If your kids have never seen real hot springs before, they’re in for a treat. If you go south of Soufriere you can find the Sulfur Springs, where you can bathe in steamy hot waters (perfect coming into winter). If you and your kids are the hiking type, who not check out Saint Lucia’s Ministry of Agriculture Forestry and Fisheries website for info on the best and safest trails for kids.
When you have scoured the beaches, napped in the sun, eaten, laughed, swam and explored the island and it is time to come home, reach out to a car hire agency to get you back to the airport and return home refreshed and light. Your family might be distant at first, but it is because they are jealous of your holiday experience. Smile and be gracious, and just maybe, do it again next year.
