Almost every business closes down on certain holidays. You as a home business owner should to. In fact- not only holidays but you should plan for vacation days as well. This way you can plan your work around those days and let your clients know that you will be on vacation and unavailable.
You can manage your calendar by penciling in holidays and vacations or take a highlighter and X out the days or better yet, highlight the squares of those days. By highlighting around the square it stands out immediately letting you know that you have something going on for that day.
A great way to stay organized is by using certain colored highlighters for specific purposes. Maybe use yellow for clients, green for family (kids events), pink for vacation/holidays, blue for personal and so on. This makes a great way to keep yourself straight and you know what is going on at the glance of an eye.
Calendar management ties in strongly with time management. Both together helps to keep your home business running smoothly and leaving work with work and family time for family only.
So who says Spring Break is just for the kids? How about springing away from your home office and all that work and have a little break yourself? Highlight the week of Spring Break and leave an auto reply in your email stating that you'll be out of the office from this day to that day. Be sure to throw in an extra day for recuperating. You better do it soon, because Spring Break is right around the corner!
Ok…now back to reality.
