Ho, Ho, Ho Work At Home Christmas
by Jamie Edson Opielski

Christmas music floats out of the speakers, lights flash in colored patterns around the Christmas tree. Condensation sweats upon the windows from the brisk cold outside of the cozy warm house. The smell of pine, cinnamon and mulberry mingle from room to room while voices tangle from conversations and laughter. Hints of warm pumpkin pie creep from the kitchen taunting our senses, begging us to follow, while the kids are sneaking under the Christmas tree to see if there is anything under there for them…

Yes, it's that time of year, the one that leaves most of us broke and crashing our diets…but I love it! It certainly didn't take me long after Thanksgiving to get all of the decorations out and up all over the place. On the other hand, getting my husband out there to put the lights up on the house was a different story! I like the icicle lights, he doesn't. To him, it's pure torture. And..... I loved every minute of it! Besides, what's a little Christmas light hanging torture if it makes the house look pretty?

Once again, we procrastinated on present shopping. I always say every year that I am going to start shopping early in September and never do. Though, (unlike last year), we did have the majority of it either bought or ordered online the last week of November. So maybe next year we'll start at the beginning of November! Only time will tell :

Now, do we want to talk business? Let's not and say we do? Maybe just a little? Since I have previously mentioned the little devil named procrastination, let's focus on that a bit.

It's pretty evident that procrastination leads to last minute rushing to get the job done. Which unfortunately leads to a messy outcome of the work you have just completed. If this rushed work is for another company or a customer the chances are that the company/customer will not outsource any more work to you. Worst case- that company/customer definitely will not recommend you to others or have good things to say about your business. For your business this is bad advertisement.

How can you avoid messy jobs and bad advertisement? Stay focused; keep track of clients and projects with a calendar- this will help you meet your deadlines. Meet your deadlines a day or two before hand. Stay away from procrastination, make a note saying 'procrastination- it's bad for business' and put it to where you can see it at all times. In a nut shell if you have discipline with your work the procrastination part should be easy to overcome.

Stay focused out there, keep clients happy and your business thriving. Have a safe a wonderful Christmas!
