Have you ever reached for something that you know you just put there, and it has suddenly disappeared? You remember putting it on your desk, in your office- and just like that it is gone! What is it with office supplies and kids? I'm pretty sure there are many work at home parents that this has happened to, or at least I hope I am not the only one! My kids seem to have very sticky fingers when it comes to the supplies in my office, they see it, touch it and walk out with it. I get lucky if I ever get it back!
I think one of the worst- is when I go to print something out and my copy paper is gone. Now, I haven't quite figured it out, but my four year olds very slyly take the copy paper out of the paper tray and in no time at all have colored on every piece they get their hands on. One day I happened to look behind me on the floor where they were sitting quietly, coloring, on my copy paper and it looked like a blanket of snow with blotches of color all over the place. It kills me because the majority of the time they only color a small spot of the paper. There would be a whole row of paper lined up with nothing but a one small circle on each piece.
Now- I have banned my children from my office many a times. I have explained that the copy paper and all the other supplies are not for them to play with or just walk out with. Have I been successful at keeping them out or keeping my supply drawer full…..NO! I have resorted to keeping my supplies in hiding places- which never last because they just happen to see me getting into it. And unfortunately, I am quickly running out of hiding places!
Ok, let's move onto a funner note! Decorating your home office for the Halloween season! Many say- 'Why would I decorate my home office, when no one sees it?' I say- because it is fun to do and it is a nice change that adds a little fun to your office space. Plus YOU see it, practically every day in fact. So bust out the decorations or go shopping. Get some bats to hang from the ceiling, put some spooky window clings or pictures on your windows, stick some spider webs in the corners of your office, maybe add a few plastic spiders, set some black and orange candles on your desk or filing cabinet. There are many tings you can do to 'spook' up your office! Now get to it and have a Spooky October and a Happy Halloween!
