Go ahead, Take it outside
by Jamie Edson Opielski

work at homeI peer through the blinds in my office watching the boys play outside. The winds blowing a nice breeze making the suns heat bearable. Sitting back at my desk I continue writing on an article. I usually write on paper then transfer my work to a word doc, not sure why but I have never been one to just type away on the keyboard with the beginning of an article, poem or whatever.

So as I wrote I continued to gaze outside at the boys while thinking to myself there is no reason why I shouldn't be outside enjoying the day while it was decently cool and windy. I heard my little 'nagging friend' inside my head say "go ahead- take it outside". And for once my little nag wasn't nagging at me, just giving me some good advice.

I gathered my notebook and pen, poured a cup of coffee and went out back to a wooden bench my husband made. I piled myself on it and picked up where I left off.

This is one of the things I love about working from home, as well as being a writer. I can always take my work in a different part of the house or even outside. No boundaries. Now if I had a laptop with wireless service I would have taken my other business (that being a Virtual Assistant) outside as well. So many possibilities you can reel in while working from home!

It's nice to take a change of pace every now and then. Otherwise sitting in your home office for however long you decide to work can get old. So shake it up a bit, add a different tune to your musical environment, re-decorate or as my lil nag says 'Go ahead- take it outside'.
