5 Fun Pool Activities for the Whole Family
Swimming is perhaps one of the most anticipated and enjoyed summer activities, especially for families with children. Spending time cooling off in the pool is a great way to enjoy quality time together, making memories to last a lifetime. Pool time can be a lazy, floating time to stay cool, talk, just be together, but likely with kids, it will also be a rowdy, splashing good time.
Games in the Pool:
One of the most popular pool games to play is Chicken. Chicken is where players pair off in teams of two, one riding on the shoulders of the other. The goal is for the players on the shoulders to try and knock off the other players, with the one remaining being the champion of Chicken.
Another fun pool game is the Duck Push. In this game, each player is given a rubber ducky to push across the pool using only their nose. Players are free to splash and otherwise distract each other as long as they do not touch someone else’s ducky or the other swimmer’s body. The first swimmer to reach the other side of the pool with the ducky is the winner.
Diving for Treasure
Treasure Hunt is a classic pool game where swimmers dive to the bottom of the pool to retrieve treasure items. Treasure can be anything that does not float, coins, dive sticks, small toys and the like. Pool stores often carry specially made fun toys for this type of game. Swimmers who bring up the most treasure before time is called win the round.
Relay races appeal to the competitive side of adults and children alike. Group players into teams with one swimmer from each team racing across the pool to tag another team member who will then jump in to race. Relay for two or more laps, whatever the group decides. This pool activity is great exercise and fun competition for all.
End a sunny summer day with a relaxing movie time in the pool using a floating movie screen. Family members can float in the pool as well or relax poolside and enjoy an outdoor movie while staying cool.
The family pool is a great place to stay cool and spend quality family time that will make lasting memories.
