In Search of Bear – Children’s Book
By Paul J. Collins
Illustrated by Denis Alonso
An action-packed adventure story of Sean’s quest to find a new friend engages the imagination while being emotionally astute.
Sean decided he needed a new best friend, his teddy bear is no longer enough. So he sets out on an adventure to find a new bear. He meets a black bear, grizzly bear, polar bear, panda and a koala bear on his journey. He is assisted by an Eagle and a Moose who help him overcome the many obstacles he encounters.
Meeting the bears disappoints Sean, they are not what he is looking for in a friend. The black bear had bees buzzing around his honey, the polar bear lives where it’s too cold, the others were too scary, loners or sleep too much. In the end, Sean finds that his very own teddy bear is the perfect friend who will just listen, laugh and give a hug.
Illustrations are bright and lush. They document the striking variety of bears and other animals. Nature meanders through the story showing a wonderful world for humans and animals.
