momInspirational Books For All Ages

By Barbara Bietz

We can all use a bit of inspiration in our lives. There are many terrific books for readers of all ages who are seeking advice for life-changing decisions, or just for needing a bit of encouragement or the heartwarming boost of a touching anecdote.

Here are some of my picks:

The Right Words at the Right Time by Marlo Thomas and Friends is a noteworthy compilation of personal accounts of celebrities and well-known leaders. The entries are based on the best advice that was given to each individual. If you are interested in the words of wisdom Barbara Bush’s father imparted, or why Rosie O’Donnell’s life was changed by a Broadway musical, this is the book for you – and your teenager will like it, too!

Chicken Soup for the Soul series. While these are very commercial books, there is no questioning their appeal. There are special editions for teens, sports lovers, dog lovers, writer’s, and more. Each edition is chock full of personal stories that are touching, meaningful, and very human. The stories are short enough to keep the attention of the most reluctant readers in your family. You’ll be sure to find a Chicken Soup book for every member of your family.

Made the decision to be a stay at home mom? It’s not always an easy transition from the office to the family room, but help is on the way with Domestically ChallengedBook cover Domestically Challenged by Alana Morales. Morales dishes out mom-friendly advise and practical suggestions and workable solutions for problems stay at home moms face. She even offers tips on cooking and budgeting. Her straightforward, often times humorous approach to motherhood will leave you feeling like you’ve just had a latte break with your best girlfriend.

If you are in need of a little inspiration or some solid old-fashioned advice, a good book may be your best bet!
