So The Kids Are Coming Home for the Holidays
If you are like me you have cleaned up the spare bedroom ( office, hobby room…..) and gone grocery shopping and spent a small fortune of food items like milk. We just don’t buy much milk since the kids left home. I had to buy real food too, no more cereal or soup for dinner during this visit.
Then there is the planning of fun activities or just finding things to do. No one is harder to find than a bored 20 something’s. and after all the whole point of this exercise is to spend some time with the kids, fun, quality time right?
Especially at holiday time, I’m pretty nostalgic about trimming the Christmas tree — forget about the annual fight over tangled lights, leaning tree and who gets to put the angel on top.
And there is gong to church together ( peace and joy) and opening presents. And even though thoughts of Christmas past ring in my ears — the clothes I got for them which were labeled “just sad”. Then there was the year I put marshmallows in the sweet potatoes ” how sick”. I really didn’t know vegetarians can’t eat marshmallows !
Oh well, this will be a better year. All I have to do is pick up the turkey , and make one more trip to the grocery store…..
