Silver, Blue and White Ring in the New Year
Silver, blue and white are beautiful colors to use when decorating for the New Year.
Not only are these colors perfect for New Year’s party decorations, but they can also be quite effective during the rest of the winter, reflecting the beautiful crisp colors of winter. These colors can be used effectively both in traditionally decorated rooms as well as modern decor.
– Sparking New Year’s Party Decorations –
If you are hosting a New Year’s party at your house this year, decorating with silver, blue and white can add a very festive look to your home. Glass bowls and vases filled with silver and clear round ornaments can give the look of sparkling champagne. Use silver or white wired ribbon to create festoons for your mantle and shelves, bending it into interesting curves and bows along the way. Nestle sparkling blue ornaments into the curves of the ribbon for a colorful effect. Select party favors and noisemakers in a silver, blue and white color scheme for a coordinated look. Snowflakes and snow decorations are also beautiful for January, and can be used not only in December and for New Year’s Eve, but also throughout the month of January.
Decorating for January
Once New Year’s Eve and day are over, you can still use silver, blue and white in your overall home decor to add a crisp winter look. Try adding a white tablecloth to the dining room table, accented with crisp blue placemats and napkins, using silver or clear crystal napkin holders. You can collect bare branches or evergreen branches from the outdoors, and arrange them in a white, blue, silver or crystal vase, spraying the branches ever so lightly with spray snow for added winter appeal. Add a collection of throw pillows in white and blue to your sofa and chairs, and drape a white tapestry throw over the back of the sofa to add a comfortable and warm winter look.
Creating a Cozy Winter Bedroom
You can also use silver, blue and white to create a strikingly beautiful and cozy look for your bedroom. Use pure white bed linens, such as a soft down comforter, and plenty of soft pillows. Even if your room isn’t decorated with blue, you can add some ice blue pillows to the bed as an accent color. Fold a blue and white comforter or blanket and place over the foot of the bed, which not only will look beautiful but will be handy for snuggling; add a good book and you’ve created the perfect place to spend a snowy winter afternoon. Or, create a striking bold look in the bedroom for winter by using a dark blue comforter, using pillows in opulent silver and white fabrics as accents.
Decorating with a Child’s Touch
If you have children in the home, let them join in on the decorating fun as well. Children love to decorate the windows in their bedrooms with hand-cut paper snowflakes or snowmen. In fact, paper snowflakes can be used in other areas of the home as well, such as on tables in place of traditional doilies, to add a fun winter decorating touch.
