It is also the ideal destination for people visiting New York together with their kids, as the city offers numerous possibilities to have fun and entertain them in a manner that they will never forget.
NYC is not only the city with the biggest population in the entire U.S.A. but also a place that attracts lots of tourists with its hundreds of unique, interesting places or activities. This is one of the main reasons why your NYC trip should be very well organized.
Museums for Kids
If New York City will be one of your future holiday destinations, one stop you could make would be the American Museum of Natural History. It is a well-known museum in the entire world, is located right in the City, a place where you and your loved ones will be able to admire astonishing exhibits coming from the natural world.
A visit to this museum will be both fun and educational. Among the numerous exhibits, you will have the chance to admire the fossils collections, the dinosaur skeletons and many other breathtaking exhibits that will surely make you want to spend there more than just a couple of hours in the museum.
This is the very place where the movie “A Night at the Museum” was made, so the movie lovers will be happy to see lots of familiar places. Do not forget to visit the Hayden Planetarium, where you and the kids will find out many interesting things about the planets and the universe.
The museum managers will tell you that there are hundreds of attractions created especially for kids, so make sure to reserve several hours for the visit at the museum. A family membership is $140, or $22 for a child and $35 for an adult.
Another place that you should definitely be visiting while you are in New York City with your family is the Bronx Zoo, a huge place that spreads over 265 acres of parklands and natural habitats. The Bronx Zoo is the largest Zoo in the U.S. and the very home for more than 4,000 animals. The garden was opened back in 1899 when it had about 1,000 animals; starting with 2010, the garden protects many endangered species as well.
Consider visiting the African Plains, where your family will love to see the zebras, lions, storks, gazelles and the African wild dogs. Another fantastic tourist attraction is Jungle World, where you can see about 800 animals, among them, being otters, gibbons, tapirs and many others. It represents 40 acres dedicated to mud wallows, pastures, forests and riverbanks, a place where you will have the chance to see elephants, tigers, rhinos and wild horses.
While in the Bronx Zoo, make sure to attend the Bee Eater Buffet, where you will participate in the daily feeding of the white-throated bee-eaters. It will be an amazing show seeing those colorful birds hunting for their food. Another stop should be at the monkeys, where you can attend a training lesson, seeing the way the primates are trained to perform different actions.
If your kids are younger, then you should let them enjoy a ride on giant grasshoppers at the Bug Carousel; they will love riding those huge bugs. If you happen to get to the Bronx Zoo on Wednesday, the entrance will be free. Don’t forget that on Christmas Day, on Thanksgiving Day and on New Year’s Eve Day the Bronx Zoo is closed. Admission is $12.95 for a child and $16.95 an adult, a family membership is $139.
