Sunbonnet Days, August 4

Watch as the past comes to life in Fairfield at Sunbonnet Days! Sponsored by the Fairfield Historical Society.  See what life was like in Butler County during the 1800s and early 1900s.

Cheer on the “Blackbottom 9” in a vintage 1869-style baseball game and tour the Elisha Morgan Mansion. It was originally built in the early 1800s. The celebration continues with tours of the area’s one-room schoolhouses and several gardens. Enjoy live music, antiques and learn more about Ohio’s rich history at this unique event!

Meteor Shower Campout, August 11, 12

Regarded as one of the most popular meteor showers of the year, the Perseid Meteor Shower is sure to bring out-of-this-world views.

Help celebrate the occasion at the Caesar Creek State Park’s Meteor Shower Campout!

This year, families can enjoy geocaching, watching superhero movies, playing a variety of games, a bonfire on the beach, and a presentation from the Cincinnati Astronomical Society.

Your little ones will have a blast making crafts, putting together puzzles, and going through “superhero training.” Camp out and view the meteor shower through telescopes provided or sit back and take it all in with your loved ones in a comfortable spot on the beach!

Salt Fork Arts & Crafts Festival, August 10-12

Appreciate the arts at the Salt Fork Arts and Crafts Festival in Cambridge! A juried event, you can catch almost 100 award-winning artists’ pieces on display and a variety of talented student artworks. Taste yummy foods and treats, take an art class or shop your way around dozens of different vendors at this three-day event.

Nelsonville Parade of the Hills, August 15-18

Spend the weekend in Nelsonville with all your loved ones at the Parade of the Hills – one of Ohio’s leading and most well-known festivals.

Kick off the weekend with live music from Sail On, a Beach Boys ferris wheeltribute band, and stay to see who is crowned in the Pie Contest and the Ohio State Fiddling Contest!

The fun doesn’t stop there – you can enjoy food, carnival games and rides, a 5K run and the “Water Games,”. Thisis a  fan-favorite event where the Nelsonville Fire Department and various other fire departments compete.

Dublin Irish Festival, August 3-5

One of the largest of its kind, the Dublin Irish Festival expects to bring thousands of guests to the Central Ohio region this year.

Seven stages, sixty-five acts, and over five hundred performers promise hours of entertainment. Headliners this year include Sharon Shannon, Gaelic Storm, We Banjo 3, and the Willis Clan, among others.

Learn an Irish dance or watch traditional Celtic sports and get a taste of Irish culture and food from forty plus vendors!

All Ohio Balloon Fest, August 9-11

For over 40 years, the All Ohio Balloon Fest in Marysville has wowed thousands by hot-air balloon launches and family-friendly entertainment.

This year, you can tune into Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees ZZ Top and country star LOCASH.  Your little ones can enjoy bouncy houses, balloon artists and all their favorite characters in costume. Be sure to catch balloon flights, glows and rides while enjoying a variety of food and vendors.

German-American Festival, August 24-26

One of  Toledo’s oldest and largest ethnic festivals, the German-American Festival has been celebrating German culture for over fifty years.

Catch the favorite stone-throwing contest, enjoy live music, or sample German-American baked goods – and be sure to stay and see who reigns victorious in the soccer tournament and the pretzel-eating contest!
