The popularity of reality shows has been a growing phenomenon over the last few years. The reality TV fascination has captivated almost every age group, and launched average people into “reality television stars,” some of them receiving spin-off programs, movie deals, and record albums to name a few. Although it’s easy to get caught up in various lives from bickering teenagers to bug-eating people living on a deserted island, reality TV can showcase some amazing talents from people all over the world. Here are a few suggestions of reality television shows that entertain, while giving new appreciation for people and their talents – without grossing you out!

American Idol: Since 2002,this singing competition has launched the careers of Grammy winning recording artists who prior to the television show were just average people living their lives. Originally deemed a nationwide search to find the country’s greatest undiscovered talent, the kooky tryouts, high profile judges, and the intensity of the process, has made the show a popular water cooler topic that is beloved by everyone of all ages. Project Runway: If you are a fashion fanatic, you better start watching! Contestants compete with each other to make the most beautiful outfit with limited time, money, and resources,often crafting outfits out of difficult materials. A designer is elimintaed each episode until only three remain. The last few standing get an opportunity to create a collection to be debuted at New York’s prestigious fashion week,and a winner is chosen! Popular among many,this is a must see for anyone interested in art of clothing design. Aired of Bravo Wednesday’s,check your local listings for time and channel.

America’s Next Top Model: Created and judged by super model Tyra Banks, America’s Next Top Model(also known as Top Model or ANTM),has run for seven seasons and is still going on strong! In this show, “wannabe” models compete to become the next American Supermodel with weekly challenges related to the field of modeling which tests contestants creativity and talent often in subjects such as fashion knowledge, acting, and the like.
