Winter Planning for Summer Lake Vacations
Although this time of year may have you wishing for warmer weather, many people forget that this is the prime time to decide how you are going to spend your summer vacation when those hot summer days arrive.
Ask any real estate agent or property manager for their number one piece of advice for planning a vacation and you are more than likely to get the answer: Plan Ahead. By starting to hunt for that perfect place now you can avoid the last minute rush and the risk of ending up without a place to stay.
One great advantage of planning ahead is that it gives you the time and property availability to compare prices. Although many properties are not fully booked now, by mid-February it is likely they will be and you could get stuck spending a lot more money by waiting that extra month and a half.
Property owners at popular destinations such as Lake Arrowhead, located in southern California tend to offer very competitive prices, but those can get snapped up quickly.
Another benefit to booking early is that it gives you plenty of time to plan how you will spend your vacation time. Many lake destinations have annual festivals and celebrations over the summer that make for a great vacation experience.
For a traditional 4th of July celebration, Fife Lake, Michigan has a family-oriented celebration with a parade and fireworks display. Times like these are more crowded at these destinations, so when researching it’s important to see if there are festivals you’d like to attend or if you’re looking for a quieter retreat if there are not. Many lake destinations have homepages with a calendar of events, so a simple web search of the lake or type of event you’re interested in well offer important information.
Another reason to book early is to give plenty of time to plan for a family reunion. Although some families plan two to three years in advance, six months is the perfect amount of time to plan a lake vacation for the whole extended family. Kentucky Lake, which covers over 160,000 acres, offers enough room for everybody in the family to do their own thing.
From water sports to fishing to just cruising around the lake, there is something for everyone. Plus, you’ll have a place for everyone to convene at the end of the day at one of the many houses or condo complexes around the lake. By booking now, you can make sure that everyone has time to take off work and get everything in order for a successful family reunion.
One of the best things about booking your vacation home now is having a warm weather escape to look forward to during the cold winter months!
