Thanksgiving In Hilton Head Island
There are almost as many things to do in Hilton Head in November as in the summer. The weather is often very warm. Bring your shorts! Many of the boat tours don’t runin November, but dolphin can be still seen off-shore.
Many hotels and restaurants offer Thanksgiving buffets. The large hotels such as the Hilton and the Westin have very good buffets, which offer traditional Thanksgiving fare, and seafood.
Enjoy a day trip to Savannah. Take the kids on the evening ghost tour. It is fun for all, and then yes, have dinner at the Lady and Sons, but be prepared to wait in a long line, especially Thanksgiving Weekend.
Where to stay? There are tons of houses for rent, hotels, etc. Check with services such as “Island Getaway” or “Resorts International” to look for houses or villas torent. Many will have heated pools, so swimming will be an option too. Check into properties called “Lands End”. These homes are located at the Southern most end of the island. They are with in walking distance of tennis courts, pool, and the South Beach marina – where there are restaurants and shops. Try to get a house on the sound side, so that you can walk out in the morning as see dolphins.
Hilton Head Island has a timeless feel; it didn’t even have electricity until 1951, and its second golf club wasn’t opened until 1967. Now, with more than 30 golf courses and countless tennis courts, it’s a vacation destination for the sports nut.
